Tortola is the capital of the British Virgin Islands, with Road Town as the government, business and banking center for the territory.  The majority of all sailing charter and their support services are based in Road Town.  There are excellent hotels as well as a good variety of restaurants, bars, and small shops. Tortola, the largest of the British Virgin Islands, was named by Spanish explorers for the turtle dove.  Today, you will find it is home to a sweet, gentle, and infinitely gracious people.
